FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR nAlan Isaacs T INSIDE THIS ISSUE: 2 Jewish Film Festival – a reel success he major fundraising event of the 2010 Jewish Federation annual campaign took place at the Club at Grandezza on Sunday evening, Janu- ary 24. The event provided a beautiful setting and an opportunity for our Pace Setters ($5,400 and over) and Major Givers ($1,800 - $5,399) to gather and demonstrate their support for our Jewish Community here at home, and Jewish communities in Israel and overseas. After a cocktail hour, the group was seated for the program and din- ner. Federation President Larry Eisenfeld welcomed everybody to the event, and Board member Barbara Siegel introduced the opening speaker, Hon. Paul Hirschson, Deputy Consul for Israel in Miami. Hirschson briefed the group about the mood in Israel and issues affecting the relation- ship between Israel and the United States. Introduced by Juli Bobman, Loftus went on to illuminate the events surrounding the subject. Both speakers were well received and responded to a number of questions afterwards. After dessert, Sheila Laboda explained the importance of contributing to the work of the Federation and the advances we have made during the many years that she has been involved in this enterprise. Larry thanked everyone for attend- ing and for their support, and acknowledged FineMark National Bank and Trust for their sponsorship. This preeminent group of contributors is respon- sible for raising the lion’s share of the campaign each year, but it is clear that even after a very success- ful fundraiser, the cam- paign now rests on those who have not yet made their contributions. Attendance at, and sup- port for all the events and programs that the Federation sponsors are important ways to participate in our Jewish community and se- cure the future for our families and the community.
